We all wish Afghanistan would do better.
The sight of their entire population trying to flee those who intend on "leading" the country may be having an effect.
The point is, the American people do, for the most part, despise the Taliban's behavior just like we despise our "AmericanTaliban" counterparts. But 8 in 10 Americans think we should not have been there, nor should we have stayed.
Additionally, it's easy to think 2500 troops could control this situation over time. Our intel said otherwise, that increasing attacks and acceleration were inevitable.
Maybe they needed 50 years. I don't know. But CLEARLY at 20 years, the people of Afghanistan did not have the will or the desire to fight for their own good.
